To the Editor:

This is National Volunteer Week, and I personally want to say thank you to the more than 200 volunteers who give so generously of their time, energy and talents to New Hope Village.

On Thursday, April 11, we will recognize our volunteers with dinner and awards for their dedicated service. This is only a small way of letting them know how very valuable they are to us and how much we appreciate everything they do to help advance New Hope’s mission.

Our volunteers logged many hours of volunteer service. That number alone is a great tribute to them, and we know there are many other people who have helped in some special way to support the valuable work we do.

At New Hope, there is a multitude of ways in which our volunteers help us fulfill our mission of enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities. Among these, our volunteers work in our five Bargain Shoppes, serve as church companions for our clients, provide one-to-one assistance to clients, bake pies and assist at our Soup Day fundraiser, help with special events like bingo and dances, make quilts for our Biennial Quilt Auction and provide governance and leadership on our New Hope Governing Board and New Hope Foundation Board.

New Hope is blessed with the support of wonderful volunteers in our community, and on behalf of everyone at New Hope, I offer all our volunteers a heartfelt 'thank you.'

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” — Elizabeth Andrew
