Sarah Bowman is an active supporter of U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley and other Republicans.

Now she’s more visible.

Bowman, a native of Glidden and daughter of Mike and Sherry Bolton of that city, joins Grassley near the end of a TV ad promoting the veteran senator’s rural Iowa folksiness. He can find every Dairy Queen in Iowa, the spot says.

Bowman, 36, and now living in Waukee, appears in the ad along with her family: husband, David; four boys, William, 10; Sean, 7; Brendan, 6; and Henry, 4; and 7-month-old Mary Elouise.

The Carroll County native helped support Grassley as a volunteer at U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst’s Roast and Ride in Des Moines Saturday afternoon.

“We’re still friends with the senator,” she said of Grassley.

And moments before Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump addressed the crowd, Bowman put the election into context for her family.

“My oldest son will be of draft age in seven years, and the thought of Hillary Rodham Clinton as commander in chief terrifies me,” Bowman said.
