A 61-year-old woman was killed in a crash near Carroll Friday.

Debra Renee Kock of Carroll died after her RAV4 was hit by a Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Lincoln, Nebraska.

The boy’s vehicle was traveling north on Kittyhawk Avenue, ran through a stop sign and hit Kock’s vehicle, which was traveling east on 170th Street, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety. The intersection is about 2 miles northwest of Wal-Mart in Carroll.

Both vehicles went into a ditch, and Kock’s vehicle caught fire. Kock was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager was injured and transported by Carroll County EMS to St. Anthony Regional Hospital.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll Police Department also responded to the crash, which is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol, according to the release.
