July 17, 2017

On Friday, July 28, 2017 Sony Pictures will release “The Emoji Movie,” a one of a kind 3-D animated American comedy. The movie takes place in the city of Textopolis, the home to all emojis hidden inside a smartphone. This new release is one that will appeal to children, teens and adults as millions of emojis are sent around the world in texts, private messages and emails.

In 1998 Shigetaka Kurita invented the idea of an emoji while working for a Japanese mobile communication company. His goal was to make a way for users to send pictures without using a lot of data. He created a one-character code that displayed as an icon on the other person’s device.

Today emojis are literally everywhere. They are on everything from clothing and backpacks to cellphone covers to toys and stuffed animals.

Emoji Waffles

Every kid would love to wake up to an emoji waffle on their plate or they can create their own face depending on their mood. Encourage creativity even in the morning.

waffles (homemade or frozen variety)

mini marshmallows

chocolate chips

sliced bananas

blueberries

strawberries

melted chocolate in a piping bag or a small resealable bag with the corner cut off

Poop Emoji Cupcakes

Yes, poop emoji is a real thing. This silly character is always smiling and is one of the most common emojis.

chocolate cake mix (prepare as directed on the box for cupcakes)

chocolate frosting in a piping bag with a round, large tip or in a large resealable bag with the corner cut off

white fondant or mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips

It’s as easy at 1-2-3 to make poop emoji cupcakes. Bake cupcakes according to directions on the box and allow to cool completely. Pipe chocolate frosting onto cupcakes into a swirl. Create a face by cutting eyes and a mouth from white fondant. Or use mini marshmallows for eyes and press mini chocolate chips into the center of the marshmallows.

Emoji Pizza

Kids love to make their very own pizza just the way they like it. A face can be made on top of shredded mozzarella cheese using slices of pepperoni or tomatoes or the cheese can serve as the outline of the eyes and mouth. Black olive slices make adorable eyeballs.

Prepare pizza dough and cover with pizza sauce. Add toppings to create the emoji of your choice. Bake according to pizza dough directions.
