Woman arrested for driver's license, voter registration fraud
August 1, 2013
A Denison woman who is not a U.S. citizen used a false name to obtain a driver's license and register to vote in 2010 in Carroll, court documents allege.
Maria Isabel Flores Lopez, 39, was arrested Wednesday for two felony perjury charges.
She is accused of using the name of another woman - who is a U.S. citizen - to apply for a license at the Carroll County driver's license station in September 2010.
Flores Lopez is a citizen of Mexico, court records show.
Residents can register to vote when they apply for a driver's license. It's unclear if Flores Lopez voted with the alleged false registration.
The charges are each punishable by up to five years in prison if she is convicted.
She is held in Carroll County Jail on $10,000 bail.
