Templeton awards $1M community center contract to Badding Construction
August 15, 2013
The City of Templeton has awarded a contract to Badding Construction of Carroll for remodeling the former Sacred Heart School into the planned Templeton Community Center.
The Templeton City Council Tuesday approved the $1,041,100 bid at a special council meeting. The contract includes new electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems; new windows and doors; and interior remodeling and finishes.
The project is split into two phases, with work on the first phase involving remodeling the north end of the building that includes the main entrance, restrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen and an executive conference room. The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of November.
The second phase includes completion of the banquet hall and bar area in the former south classroom wing, and that phase is slated for completion in May of 2014.
Templeton community leaders say they already have interest in booking for events.
Previous work on the building included asbestos removal, structural work and a new roof that was completed by Andrews Roofing in Carroll this summer.
Final phases of the project, including minor interior finishes and exterior paving and landscaping, are scheduled for the summer of 2014 and after.
Templeton leaders announced the plan in March 2012 with a capital campaign for the estimated $1.4 million project. To date, $1.2 million has been raised, and fundraising is ongoing as the city awaits word on several grant applications.
