Audubon city leaders are expected tonight to schedule a special meeting in which they will set job-performance expectations for the town's city clerk - one of the steps suggested by an interim city attorney as they seek to replace current clerk Lora Hansen.

The City Council refused at its Feb. 10 meeting to formally extend Hansen's 26-year tenure as clerk by six months and decide whether to replace her thereafter. Instead, the council voted to advertise the job opening and potentially vote to replace her at a future meeting.

Several council members have said they are unhappy with Hansen's job performance.

Also on tonight's agenda is a vote to set a procedure by which the city clerk posts the tentative agendas for council meetings. That follows an illegal vote the council made in early January when it initially sought to replace Hansen. A councilman had asked that the agenda item be added the morning of the meeting, which violates a state requirement to post such items at least 24 hours before a meeting unless it meets certain emergent requirements.

Tonight's meeting starts at 7 at City Hall, 410 N. Park Place.
