Manning’s Hausbarn-Heritage Park offered visitors a relaxing summer evening last week with a luau-themed event.

People of all ages from Manning and the surrounding area came to the Hausbarn’s Roten Bar Tavern and courtyard for the luau on Thursday. They partook in a whole pig roast, mac & cheese, and potato salad provided by Barrel Smoke BBQ, as well as cake and a rum punch special.

Blake Lubinus of Des Moines provided music from all genres to entertain, while people in Hawaiian shirts and leis enjoyed their dinner and a beautiful evening on the Tavern’s courtyard. Several participated in a bags tournament, and kids ran and played in the courtyard and had a blast breaking in the new campground playground set, which had just been installed earlier in the week.

A variety of other events are planned this summer for Manning Hausbarn-Heritage Park, including a Car-Cruise in Thirsty Thursday on July 11, and the Hausbarn return of Manning-born Brian Joens to play on the courtyard on July 18.
