Carroll man charged for text-message harassment
A 36-year-old Carroll man was arrested Sunday for allegedly sending harassing text messages to a Warren County woman and threatening to kill her, court records show.
Jon-Paul K. Stone was arrested by Carroll police at his home on a warrant for first-degree harassment that was issued in Warren County in early November. He faces up to two years in prison if convicted of the charge.
A criminal complaint alleges that he began sending text messages to a 24-year-old woman the morning of Oct. 18.
"She told him repeatedly to stop and that she didn't want anything to do with him," according to the complaint. "On two different occasions (he) told her if he ever saw here again that he would kill her and was very abusive to her."
No further details of the case - including how Stone knows the woman - were immediately available. Court records show that Stone lives with a spouse and child in Carroll.
Stone was released from the Warren County jail on no bond. A judge forbade him from contacting the alleged victim.
Stone's next court appearance is set for Feb. 19.
