Auen takes CADC reins
November 21, 2013
Carroll Area Development Corp. board members Tuesday unanimously elected Jim Auen as president of the countywide economic-progress organization.
Auen, 58, president of Auen Distributing, succeeds Steve Schulz in the role. Schulz, a longtime Carroll educator, most recently the provost for Des Moines Area Community College's campus, starts Dec. 2 as president of North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, where he is moving with his family.
"We've had very good leadership, and I hope to be able to continue that," Auen said.
A Carroll native, Auen is a 1974 Kuemper Catholic High School alum and 1978 graduate of Iowa State University. He serves on the university's Management & Marketing Executive Advisory Committee.
Auen said his goal with the CADC is to continue to attract new commercial enterprises and boost prospects for strong existing businesses.
He is a longtime vice president of the CADC.
On Tuesday, CADC board members elected the following officers as well: Nick Badding, president of Badding Construction, as the CADC's vice president; Dean Onken, president of Farner-Bocken Co., as treasurer; and New Hope Village executive director Rhonda Mart as secretary.
