The Carroll County Board of Supervisors awarded a year-long lease to the county-owned farmland near Mallard View Assisted Living Center to the highest bidder.
Chad Kanne’s bid of $36,600.01 was the highest of the five submitted for the 111.6 acres, 98.1 of which are tillable. That comes out to $373.09 per tillable acre.
The contract stipulates that a grid sample be taken at the end of the lease.
In other business, County Engineer Dave Paulson was given permission to fix five damaged drains at sites: 54; 74; 82; 102 and 103.
The board also discussed the North Raccoon River Watershed Management Authority’s 28E agreement proposal.
Supervisor Neil Bock said the agreement is very similar to the Middle Raccoon River agreement, but the board decided to send the contract to County Attorney John Werden before voting on the matter.
Annual manure-management updates were approved for Kevin Baumhover of Maple River, Brett Ludwig of Kniest and B&B Swine of Glidden.
