A busy intersection just east of Lake View is now home to a large teddy bear playing a drum. And it’s all made out of hay.
Creators of the bear, Mark and Jan Hosteng, have been residents of Lake View for 38 years.
Jan said they’ve built similar figures from hay including a snowman and a Santa Claus, but they usually sit farther up the road.
She said this year the bear has generated a lot of talk, possibly because it’s easier to see from the intersection of three highways.
“My husband is the real mastermind behind these,” Hosteng said.
This year’s creation took 10 hay bales and a quart of oil-based red, black and white paint.
She said her husband usually researches what he should build next.
Hosteng said the bear wasn’t hard to make.
