In their floral button-up shirts and sundresses, students grooved to the beat of the music.

In unison, they sang the words to happy, summer-themed songs that even the audience knew the words to.

It was a night of feel-good music that brought everyone together.

For Kuemper Catholic’s annual Spring Program, elementary school students sang songs such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Rockin’ Robin,” “On the Radio” and more.

Kathy Brandt, a preschool-through-fifth-grade music teacher at Kuemper, said she holds a spring concert every year and uses the performance as an assessment tool to evaluate her students.

This year’s theme was “On the Radio,” based on the short musical by John Jacobson and John Higgins.

She said the performance this year was unique because students were given a selection of songs and picked the one they thought best fit the theme of the program. It was night for students to spotlight their hard work and dedication while also having some fun.

The students had fun and the songs were also familiar to the students and the audience,” she said.
