Kuemper Catholic High School’s Mardi Gras on Tuesday afternoon, put on yearly by the Student Council, featured food and games. And the good time all was for a good cause.

The event raised more than $2,000 with all proceeds going to Then Just Feed One, where meals are packaged for the impoverished residents in Third World countries.

Kuemper will host a Then Just Feed One food-packaging day on Wednesday, March 28. Everyone in the community is invited to contribute their time to help package meals that day, or contribute donations for meals to be purchased. Anybody interested in donating to the cause, or volunteering to help package meals, may contact the school’s main office by March 21.

At Mardi Gras, walking tacos, Subway sandwiches and pizza were all available for students to purchase, as well as homemade baked goods provided by the Student Council representatives.

Students could purchase a wristband for $3 to play games in the afternoon. Games included wii video games, puzzles, blackjack, football toss, pingpong, and basketball. Also, there was also a junior vs. senior basketball tournament following the games, refereed by varsity boys’ basketball coaches.

The day ended with a short prayer service at Holy Spirit Church.
