The Kuemper Catholic High School Kix Dance Team captured three first-place trophies at the Iowa Dance Team Association’s State Competition Thursday night.
The achievement is a first in the team’s history.
Iowa’s dance competition is the largest state competition in the nation.
During the two-day event 270 teams perform 560 dances.
The Kix won first place in its Class II hip hop routine, Class I lyrical routine and Class II jazz routine.
The classes are determined by school enrollment and number of routines scheduled in each category.
The 18-member Kix team is made up of Carly Hoffman, Carly Ludwig, Allison Lynch, Morgan Neary, Miranda Pille, Katelyn Renze, Mariah Koster, Hannah Kraus, Aly McDermott, Kelsey Mertz, Ashley Schultes, Sydney Ludwig, Haley Kraus, Tia Nieland, McKenna Quandt, Jordan Seidl, Madison Wendl and Meredith Werden.
The team is coached by Heather Knerl.
Several other schools including East Sac County, Ar-We-Va, South Central Calhoun and Glidden-Ralston received Division I ratings and placed in the top five.
