Every year, Nancy Baack’s fourth-grade art students at the Glidden-Ralston Community School District create their own unique artwork for the Iowa Firefighters Association's poster program.

This year, the theme was “Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”

For the competition, students from all over the state in third through fifth grades send in the posters they make.

The winner this year of the fourth-grade division was Glidden-Ralston student Bella Davis, who attended a luncheon with her family, where she received a certificate of achievement, $100 in cash, a firefighter statue and $50 check to present to the Glidden Fire Department during the event May 4.

Davis’ poster will be one of three winning posters displayed at the Iowa State Fair this summer.
