Woman accused of sex with teen

A 21-year-old Carroll woman was arrested last week for having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy.
Brittany A. Yockey was arrested several days after the crime, which allegedly happened about 1 a.m. on Oct. 20 at Meadow Wood of Carroll apartments, 1106 Woodland Drive, where Yockey lives with her mother.
Yockey faces a felony sex-abuse charge that is punishable by up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
Yockey "knew the minor was only 14 years old but continued with the act," a police officer alleged in a criminal complaint.
The age of consent in Iowa - in which a minor can have legal consensual sex with an adult - is 16. Under state law, 14-year-olds can only have legal sex with someone up to three years older.
Yockey works part-time at the Carroll Recreation Center, according to her request for a court-appointed defense attorney. Ben Alford, director of the recreation center, said Yockey is on administrative leave from work but declined to say whether she met the boy at the center.
Yockey is an unwed mother of a 2-year-old child, according to court records.
