The Wisconsin company developing a strip mall south of the Carroll Walmart Supercenter expects the project to be completed by May 15.

Jason Tadych, a principal with United Development Group LLC of Green Bay, Wis., said the 8,200-square-foot project will house three businesses. A 5,000-square-foot suite and one of about 1,200 square feet already are leased.

Tadych said that according to terms of the leases he could not release the identities of the businesses or any information about projected opening dates. He did say, however, that both businesses are currently located elsewhere in Carroll.

Carroll Chamber of Commerce officials have worked for some time on backfilling any space vacated as a result of the scheduled moves.

A third suite in the Walmart-area complex of about 2,000 square feet remains available for lease, Tadych said.

The strip mall is not affiliated with Walmart.

United Development has constructed a number of commercial properties around Supercenters in the Midwest. The company has no plans for an additional strip mall in the Carroll Walmart area.

Tadych said Carroll is well-positioned to make businesses in the strip mall successful.

"We like that it is a self-contained economy that is somewhat isolated," Tadych said. "It has a large regional draw."

The general contractor for the construction of the strip mall is PJH Companies of Colorado Springs, Colo. Construction started in October, Tadych said.
