The owner of Hunan Chinese Restaurant, 708 Simon Ave., said this morning that renewed attention to customer service and respect for the legacy of the Carroll eating establishment would be driving forces.

What's more, Chinese food delivery could be coming to the region soon as Hunan is strongly considering adding that feature.

Sean Lin, 38, took over ownership of the restaurant Sept. 1 from Robert Wong. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce celebrated Lin's arrival with a ribbon-cutting and open house starting at 8 a.m..

"I feel a warm greeting from the community," said Linn, who lives in Carroll.

Lin said he would maintain the reputation of the restaurant.

"I promise you guys I will make it better and better," Linn said.

Lin, a native of China with eight years of experience in the U.S. restaurant industry, said he researched opportunities before purchasing the restaurant and moving to Carroll from Kansas. His wife, Mingfeng Chen, and daughter, Nike Lin, continue to live in China. Lin said he hopes to bring them to the United States.

Lin's sisters live in the United States and are involved in Chinese restaurants in Pierre, S.D., and Great Bend, Kan.

His mother, Guoyou Huang, works here in Carroll with Lin.

One strength of the restaurant is its stable, experienced workforce, Linn said.

"You have to find people who are loyal," Lin said. "Personality is very important."

Lin cited his team of chefs - Corey Zhoung, Joe Zhou and Tony Sanchez.

Roycene Knudsen, the store manager for Hunan, said customer service is outstanding under Lin's leadership.

"I'm really happy," Knudsen said. "I think we're really blessed to have Sean."
