Calhoun County Economic Development Corp. (CCEDC) has chosen Jill Heisterkamp as its new executive director.
She will focus on implementing CCEDC’s new strategic plan that was announced in August and managing CCEDC’s Revolving Loan Fund, which can be utilized by businesses in Calhoun County, along with promoting and guiding economic- and business-development efforts throughout the county and its communities.
A native of Lake City, Heisterkamp brings more than 15 years of marketing and communications experience to the role and has worked in a variety of industries, including corporate and general aviation, technology, telecommunications, healthcare, engineering, higher education, and printing.
She spent 12 years living in the Kansas City metro area, working for companies such as Sprint and an aviation payment services division of U.S. Bank before starting her own marketing-consulting and copywriting business, which she has operated for the last eight years.
She recently returned to Iowa and worked in the marketing and communications office at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake before accepting the role of executive director for CCEDC.
“I’m excited to return to my roots in Calhoun County and give back to the community where I grew up and help others succeed,” said Heisterkamp. “I believe that making connections among people, businesses and resources is the key to growth in any area, and I look forward to bringing what I have learned during my career in the Kansas City area to Calhoun County to help it grow and continue to thrive.”
She assumed her duties as executive director on Oct. 31 and replaces Pam Anderson, who resigned from the position in September.
Heisterkamp holds a bachelor of arts degree in English with a minor in philosophy from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. While operating her own business, she was actively involved in many professional and industry networking groups and entrepreneurial organizations, holding several board positions.
“We are pleased to welcome Jill to the CCEDC as our new executive director. We believe that Jill’s experience will bring a new perspective and insight to our economic- and county-development initiatives and are excited for her to get rolling in this position,” said John Hepp, president of the CCEDC board. “As you see her out and about in the community, I encourage you to introduce yourself and share your thoughts and ideas with her.”
