Scott "Steiny" Steinkamp, age 40 of Valencia, Spain and formerly of Breda, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his residence in Spain.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Scott's aunt, Rosemary Riesberg. Gift Bearers will be Scott's nephews: Nathanael, Jakob, and Mikhel Bunge. Eucharistic Ministers will be Scott's aunts, Rosemary Riesberg and Laurie Steinkamp.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Breda.

Scott's family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church until mass time.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at Holy Spirit Church for the family of Scott Steinkamp.

Born on Dec. 1, 1972 at Carroll, Iowa, Scott James Steinkamp was the son of James and Marilyn (Riesberg) Steinkamp. As a young boy Scott was engaged in helping his father Jim on the farm near Breda. He spent his younger years in the Breda area and attended Christ the King School, later graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School with the Class of 1991. Following high school education, Scott attended college and then worked in Georgia and Ohio before moving to Valencia, Spain. Most currently Scott was employed by DC Logistics Brasil where he was a Trade Lane Developer for North America and Europe. Through his work he was able to travel to many countries. He enjoyed coming back to Breda to visit "Reds" and also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Lake Okoboji. He always enjoyed entertaining, spending time at the beach, but his greatest joy in his life was his son Jona.

Scott is survived by his son Jona Steinkamp of Valencia, Spain; his fiancé Isabel Guasi and her children, Paublo and Deigo of Valencia, Spain; his mother, Marilyn Steinkamp of Carroll; his father, James (Faith) Steinkamp of Carroll; two sisters: Tam (Todd) Bunge of Hawarden and Lindsay (Dan) Umstattd of Lee Summit, Mo; his brother, Doug (Kirra) Steinkamp of Breda; his step-brother, Dillon Walsh of Carroll; his nephews: Nathanael, Jakob, and Mikhel Bunge, Parker Steinkamp, and Kolby Umstattd; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended relatives.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leonard and Lynette Steinkamp and Bill and Marie Riesberg; and his cousins: Josie Klunder, and Tessa and Adam Steinkamp.
