Polly Margaret Hathcock, age 79, of Dedham, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.

Casket bearers will be Polly’s children, and honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren.

Organist for the service will be Nancy Davis. Burial will be in Dedham Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Dedham American Legion.

Born Oct. 7, 1932, at Wilmore, Kan., she was a daughter of Harvey James and Grace Dean (Foster) Stewart. She grew up in the Nottinghill, Mo., area where she attended school. She married Herman Hathcock on Aug. 9, 1947, at Mountain Home, Ark. In 1959 the couple moved to Dedham where they raised their family. Polly was a bus driver for Carroll Carroll Community School District for 34 years. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, sewing, taking care of her yard, watching NASCAR and attending races in Arizona. Polly loved her two Yorkies, AZe and Holly.

Polly is survived by four daughters, Deborah Hamm of Des Moines, Karan Nieland and her husband Larry of Tucson, Ariz., Annette Shiner of Altoona, and Kim Durham and her husband Nicholas of Safford, Ariz.; three sons, Alex Hathcock and his wife Tami of Chandler, Ariz., Brian Hathcock and his wife Jen of Carroll,  and Ivan Hathcock of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Vens of Wheatland, Iowa; seven sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herman, in 2001; and two brothers Billie and Ivan J. Stewart.
