Norman Frank Dentlinger Jr., 57, of Coon Rapids, died unexpectedly Monday, July 9, 2012.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Father Andrew Hoffman as celebrant assisted by Deacon Louie Meiners.  Friends may call at Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3 p.m. Friday. There will be a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.  

The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m. Saturday when visitation will resume.  Lector for the Mass will be Katie Dentlinger.   Gift bearers will be Alisa Winquist and Mikala Lee.  Mass servers will be Nicole Dentlinger and Amy Hinners.  Music will be by Faye Seidl as organist and Kelli Dentlinger as cantor.  Musical selections are “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Amazing Grace” and “Ashes.”  Burial will be at Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.  Casket bearers will be Tim Pedersen, Doug Lloyd, Eugene Reineke, Butch Schroeder, Rich Ruggles, Marvin Sporrer, Glenn Knight and Jim Kracht.  Honorary casket bearers will be nephews:  Tyler Dentlinger, Tim Dentlinger, Zach Dentlinger, Michael Dentlinger, Brandon Dentlinger, Chance Gruhn, Adam Winquist, Aaron Winquist, Micah Lee, Kyle Burkhiser and Wade Burkhiser.  

Born Oct. 10, 1954, at Carroll, he was a son of Norman Sr. and Katherine (Irlbeck) Dentlinger.  He grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1973.  Following high school he worked at Badding Construction and then for Garst and Thomas.  He was married to Sheila Sue Reichardt on June 27, 1987 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Massena, Iowa.  Norm had worked for Bratney Company in Des Moines since 2010.  He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids.  In his spare time he enjoyed doing carpentry work, riding on his Gator, going to coffee in the mornings with his friends, going to Menards, and being with his family and friends.  He especially enjoyed the time he got to spend with his granddaughter, Sophie Maye.

Norman is survived by his wife Sheila of Coon Rapids; three daughters, Tiffany Jones and her husband Shawn of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Alicia and Leah Dentlinger of Coon Rapids; parents Norman Sr. and Katherine Dentlinger of Coon Rapids; granddaughter Sophie Maye Jones;  two sisters: Susan Gruhn and her husband Mike of Manning and Peggy Hinners and her husband Scott of Arcadia; three brothers: Dan Dentlinger and his wife Vicki of Coon Rapids, Terry Dentlinger and his wife Shelly of Coon Rapids and Steve Dentlinger and his wife Lori of Coon Rapids; three sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Lee and her husband Mick of Massena, Iowa; Barb Burkhiser and her husband Tom of Red Oak, Iowa; and Angie Winquist and her husband Stan of Glenwood, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Denny Reichardt of Massena, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman was preceded in death by his grandparents, a sister Kathy, and his mother and father-in-law Bob and Loretta Reichardt.
