Mark Schoeppner, 61, of Las Cruces, N.M., died at Mesilla Valley Hospice on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.

Memorial Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 13, at Immaculate Heart of Mary with Father Michael presiding. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Village, P.O. Box 885, Carroll, Iowa 51401 or Mesilla Valley Hospice Foundation, 299 E. Montana, Las Cruces, N.M. 88005.  

Mark was born in Carroll, Iowa, on Jan. 22, 1951, to Merle and Angie Schoeppner. He graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1969 and then completed two years at Northwest Missouri State University.

Mark married Judy Lynn Curry on Aug. 7, 1971, in Maryville, Mo.  They moved to Las Cruces, where he was employed by Mesilla Valley Construction until starting his commercial construction company, DynaCon Inc., in 1982. He retired at age 50, enjoying time with his family, friends, and hobbies, which included restoring cars, gunsmithing, match shooting, and reading. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America and National Rifle Association.

Mark gave generously to charities including New Hope Village and Mesilla Valley Hospice.

Mark is survived by his wife Judy Schoeppner; daughter Kim Bartlett and husband Bryan of Tucson, Ariz., son Timothy Schoeppner and wife Kara of Las Cruces, N.M.,; grandchildren Avery and Brycen Bartlett; mother Angie and sister Kathy Schoeppner of Carroll; brothers Tim (Mitzie) and Steve (Carol) Schoeppner of Las Cruces, N.M.; in-laws Janet (Jack) Lamkin of Taos, N.M., and Jack (Charlene) Curry of Las Cruces, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Schoeppner, in 2001.
