1915-2012

Lenoir E. Topp, 97, of Glidden, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Victor Johnson of Wall Lake officiating. Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Organist for the service was Jan Potthoff.  Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”  Casket bearers were Chris Topp, Travis Segar, Andy Topp, Bruce Kroeger, Bill Slocum and Jerry Fleshner.  Burial was at Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Born May 21, 1915, in Glidden Township, Carroll County, she was a daughter of Henry and Minnie (Prill) Fleshner. She was baptized Aug. 15, 1915 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran in Glidden by J.F. Kaesaw. She was confirmed on April 20, 1930 by Pastor George J. Gundel also at St. John.  She attended school in Jasper Township, Carroll County.  Lenoir was married to Lawrence Topp on June 27, 1934 at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Gundel. The couple farmed all their married life north of Glidden where they raised their family. Lenoir was very active in her church and had served as organist, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and held many offices in the Ladies Aid.  

Lenoir is survived by a daughter, Lanice Draper of Carroll; a son. Lornie Topp and his wife Marilou Topp of Glidden; three grandchildren, Christopher Topp of Urbandale, Jennifer Segar and her husband Travis of Ankeny, and Andrew Topp and his fiancé Kaci Page Smits of Glidden; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Noah and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

Lenoir was preceded death by her parents; her husband Lawrence, in 1981; and two sisters, Malinda Heuton and Helen Kroeger.
