Janice Marie Buse, 73, of Lake View, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.  

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with the Rev. Donald Peterson III officiating.  Burial will follow at Wall Lake Cemetery.  

Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Lake View is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jan was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Arcadia to Herbert and Lorraine (Martens) Ewoldt.  She grew up in Lytton, where she attended Lytton School, graduating with the Class of 1957.  She completed her education at Tobin Business School in Fort Dodge.

Jan was baptized Sept. 24, 1939, in Arcadia and received her confirmation Bible at St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton.  She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.

On Sept. 21, 1958, Jan married Kenneth Richard Buse at St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton.  They made their home near Auburn where Ken farmed.  Jan enjoyed being a farmer’s wife, helping Ken and raising their three children: Alan, Lon and LuAnn.  In later years she worked as a telemarketer at Breda and at American Home Shield in Carroll.  She especially enjoyed the racing business with Ken until her health would no longer allow it.  She lived with Parkinson’s disease for the past 20 years and endured five back surgeries.

Her hobbies included playing golf, playing the slot machines at the casino, word puzzles, playing cards, and visiting with friends, but more than anything else, she loved spending time with her family.   

Survivors include her children, Alan Buse and wife Tamberlyn of Minneapolis, Minn., Lon Buse and wife Valerie of Lake View and LuAnn Pugh and husband Bret of Sac City; grandchildren, Kassandra Buse of Freemont, Ohio, Barry (Christina) Buse of Lake View, Nicholas Buse of Lake View, Lane Pugh of Sac City, and Erinn (Jonathon) Wells of Rockwell City; two great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Sawyer Wells of Rockwell City; sister Shirley Redenius and husband Gerald of Lake City; brother, David Ewoldt of South  Sioux City, Neb.; many extended family members and friends.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth, on May 31, 2012; and sister Virginia Quinn.
