Born on June 8, 1926, on her family’s farm northwest of Westside, Iowa, she was the daughter of George and Helga (Alquist) Dreessen. She grew up on the farm and attended Jackson No. 5 country school in Crawford County. Florence was married to Harry Rose on April 12, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa. Florence lived with her parents their first year of marriage while Harry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, they lived on the Snappy Popcorn farm near Breda where Harry worked and Florence was a homemaker. They then moved northwest of Audubon where they farmed for three years. In 1957, they moved to a farm northeast of Glidden, and in 1986 they moved to their current location east of Carroll where they have farmed for the past 33 years.

She baby sat for several Glidden-area families over the years, and was the bookkeeper for their business, Rose Equipment. Florence was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, cooking, playing cards, crafts, socializing with friends, going to dances, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale and was also a member of the Mothers Club.

Florence is survived by her husband, Harry, of rural Carroll; daughter, Margie Martinez, of Greeley, Colorado; son, Dale Rose (Janea), of Carroll; grandson, Joseph Martinez, of Denver, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Hansen of Audubon and Louise Bruhn (Bill) of Manning; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helga Dreessen; father- and mother-in-law, Chris and Louise Rose; and brother, Clifford Dreessen.
