Earl Stangl, 73, of Auburn, Iowa, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Auburn. Celebrant will be Father Lynn Bruch, and burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Auburn. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at St. Mary Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the Auburn Public Library.

Earl George Stangl was born on July 16, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Leo and Matilda (Mattes) Stangl. After graduating from Breda High School, Earl served as a medical tech in the U.S. Army. He attended trade school at United Electronics in West Des Moines and enjoyed woodworking, building things, space and electronics.

Earl is survived by his sister Mary Lou (Dwayne) Weuve of Windsor Heights; nephews Chris Weuve, Delon (Shirley) Weuve, and Shawn Weuve; niece Celeste (Amy Wheeler) Weuve; great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
