Donna Lee Drees, 77, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 7, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 S. Ridgeway Drive, Warrensburg. Immediately following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Lutheran Campus Ministries, 215 S. Holden, Warrensburg.

Donna was born in Lake City, Iowa, on Oct. 16, 1940. She married Joseph Drees on Aug. 11, 1962. They spent 56 happy, fun, and wonderful years together.

After high school Donna became a beautician and worked in Carroll and Ames, Iowa. She often sported every hair color of the rainbow. Oftentimes, she would experiment her skills on her husband, children and grandchildren.

Donna began working for Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Lutheran Campus Ministries in 1981. She retired from the Lutheran Campus Ministries in 2016 after 35 years. Being Catholic and working with the Lutherans lots of time she was referred to as a LUT-CAT. During her 35-year career at the Lutheran Campus Ministry she taught English fluency to many foreign students.

Donna liked to travel with her husband, and they were able to go on several cruises. Through their travels they were able to visit every state in the United States. One of the highlights of her life included her trips to Taiwan and Rome where she had the privilege of singing for the pope and when she got to hug Mother Teresa.

Donna was a member of the Inspired Quilters guild of Warrensburg and the Greater Golden Valley Quilters Guild in Clinton. She received numerous awards and ribbons.

Her legacy will live on in her quilts, her family, and the many lives she impacted through her ministry.

Donna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warrensburg.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Drees; children, Jeff (Michele), Debi (Jamie) Stockwell, JJ, and Dana (Mike) Edwards; grandchildren: Brad (Sara) Baldus, Amber (Joe) Biesemeyer, Joey Drees, Nick (Brandie) Larson, Jessica (Cody) Darr, Jared Drees and Erin Drees; great-grandchildren: Henry Baldus, Khloe Biesemeyer, Damien Biesemeyer, Cason Biesemeyer and Leah Biesemeyer; and the many kids who thought of her and called her mom. Donna and Joe also took many kids into their home and loved them as their own.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVona Shannon Oestreich; stepfather, Walter Oestreich; brother Duane Shannon; and sister Deanna Neitzske.
