Donald Fister, 68, of Blue Grass, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.

Celebration of Life will be at First Baptist Church, Jefferson, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Jefferson, Iowa or any charity of your choice. Donald was born Nov. 16, 1943, in Jefferson to Roy and Sione (Burkett) Fister.

Donald grew up in the Greene County area, attending grade school in Scranton and high school in Glidden, graduating in 1961.

He married Crispin (Ray) Farnsworth on Nov. 2, 1984.

He drove semi, retiring in 2006. He worked part time doing farm work.

Don’s interest included tractor pulls, going to farm sales, NASCAR racing, reading and playing black jack on the boat. In his younger years he showed horses, and he was president of the Iowa Pinto Horse Association. He also loved to dance the two-step.

Don is survived by his wife, Cris; sons Doug (Barb) Fister of Des Moines and Scott (Christy) Fister of Lytton; daughter Donna (Ryan) Jessen of Wall Lake; stepdaughter Tina Baker of Davenport; sisters, Linda Johnston of Rippey and Janis (Stacy) MacDonald of Scranton; a brother Les Fister (Joyce) of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews plus and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
