1945-2012

Diane M. Brant, 66, of Lanesboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a short and difficult battle with cancer.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Father Timothy Johnson of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll officiating.  

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where there will be a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.  

Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery north of Ralston.

Organist for the service will be Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Brett Eischeid, Ryan Eischeid, Corey Eischeid, Kent Brant, Roger Brant and Bruce Brant.  Honorary casket bearers will be Diane’s nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

Born Dec. 19, 1945, at Carroll, she was a daughter of George V. and Helen C. (Eich) Eischeid.  She graduated from Kuemper High School in 1963.  She worked several years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. following high school.  

On Jan. 13 1968, she married Duane Brant at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The couple made their home in the Glidden/Ralston area and later moved to Lanesboro.  

Diane worked for Walmart for the past 19 years.  Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed her flower beds, sewing and going to craft sales.  She loved spending time with her family and playing card games with her nieces and nephews.

Diane is survived by her husband, Duane of Lanesboro and her dog Maggie; three brothers, Don Eischeid and his wife Jane of Halbur, Randy Eischeid and his wife De Ann of Halbur, Gene Eischeid and his wife Donna of Chambersburg, Pa.: two sisters, Shirley Eischeid and her friend Kathy Huff of Topeka, Kan., and Geri Draves and her husband Barney of Halbur; a sister-in-law Diane Eischeid of Des Moines; two brothers-in-law, Ron Brant and his wife Carol of Glidden and Phil Brant and his wife Susie of Glidden; and two sisters-in-law, Marlene Remsburg and her husband Randy of Audubon and Karen Henning and her husband Otis of Prairie City.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom and Vern; her mother- and father-in-law, Roy and  Loretta Brant; and a brother-in-law, Larry.
